Tortoise celebrates shell-shocking victory after winning Rooke’s Pet Products in Spalding’s annual pet competition

A tortoise has won the hearts of competition voters after being crowned pet of the year.

Turbo will now be the face of Rooke’s Pet Products for 2025 following his recent win in the Spalding-based businesses annual pet competition.

The contest, which began in 2012, previously only welcomed puppies and kittens but has since opened up to pets of all shapes and sizes – and received a record-breaking number of entries this year.

Some of the finalists Turbo was up against included a Syrian hamster, a toy poodle, British shorthair cat and leopard gecko.

As a reward, the Horsfield tortoise has won a host of prizes including a £100 voucher to spend in-store and an exclusive 12-month Rooke’s discount card.

Turbo will also be showcased across Rooke’s social media channels and on the website.
