Spalding Two Lips Charity Ball raised funds for St John Ambulance

Around 160 people partied the night away at Springfields Events Centre in Spalding on Saturday night.

The Rotary Club of Spalding and Welland were raising money for St John Ambulance and Rotary charities and expect to net more than £4,000.

The eighth annual ball was organised by Sarah Prior and featured the tribute band, Back to The 80s, a lively six-piece dressed in over the top costumes from the era and playing music from the likes of Wham, Duran Duran, Culture Club and Human League.

Guests enjoyed a fabulous meal and supported an auction, gift tree and raffle before the 80s party moved up a gear.

Rotarian Fay Barrett said: “We want to thank everyone who supported us.

“I think everyone had a good time and the atmosphere was great.”

And Rotarian Melvyn Price said: “It was a very enjoyable evening. I think everybody that was there had a good time.

“We are always grateful to the people who are there on the evening as well as the people who support us by way of providing prizes for the auction, raffle and gift tree.”

Among the auction items were tickets for Buckingham Palace, tickets to the England v Pakistan cricket in the summer and a signed, replica England rugby shirt donated by Jonathan Joseph, grandson of Rotarian Rodney Britten, and signed by the whole squad - the shirt made £330 for the charities.

Sponsors were David Spenceley Ltd and Davis Worldwide Ltd.
