Celebrations at the double

The royal wedding met the FA Cup Final in twin celebrations at Tydd St Mary Primary School.

Head teacher Sonya Ely said children came to school in their wedding finery or football kit, and staff revisited their own wedding days by attending in their bridal gowns.

The children were engaged in a range of activities throughout the day with a royal theme.

Mrs Ely said the PTA invited parents and grandparents to a Royal Buffet in the afternoon, and children entertained with a medley of songs.

Celebrations at Swineshead Pre-School included a royal wedding picnic, when parents donated red, white and blue foods for everyone to enjoy.

Carolynn Fletcher said: "The children demonstrated wonderful British values and were extremely polite."
