Absolute 90s night featuring ‘Uncle Albert’ attracts 130 revellers at Spalding Services Club
Music fans enjoyed the sounds of disco classics and Britpop anthems at a 90s night — with a special guest on the decks.
The Absolute 90s night at Spalding Services Club attracted 130 revellers who were entertained by DJ Uncle Albert — who is inspired by the much-loved Only Fools and Horses character.
Revellers boogied the night away to dance anthems, cheesy tunes, happy hardcore, Britpop and the odd forgotten classic.
Organiser Shaun Neal said: “It was a good turnout and everybody was up for it like they always are.
“We played Edwin Starr’s War when Uncle Albert hit the decks as he is sort of a war hero.
“There were a few in fancy dress with lots of 90s gear on.”
The best dressed male wore a suit covered in 90s sayings - with a Ginger Spice outfit winning the female fancy dress contest.
Uncle Albert — aka Terry — did meet and greets with the guests afterwards and chatted up the ladies on the mic.
Mr Neal added: “He’s got the voice just like Uncle Albert.
“He jumped on the decks and started with the theme of Only Fools and Horses.
“We played all angles of 90s music and Uncle Albert did some shout outs.”
Mr Neal’s next night will be on Saturday, October 4 at the same venue with a theme to be decided.
He has put a poll on the Spalding Theme Nights Facebook page for people to make suggestions between OOs, school disco, clubland classics, disco inferno, 90s v 60s, hot summer party or a daytime rave.
