Food Standards Agency says 'urgent improvement' is needed at Curry Hut in High Street, Market Deeping after zero-star rating
'Urgent improvements' are needed at a town takeaway after it received a zero-star rating in its latest food hygiene assessment.
Curry Hut in High Street, Market Deeping was handed the rating after its latest visit from the Food Standards Agency.
The takeaway was rated 1-star at the beginning of July before dropping to a zero at a re-inspection. Previously, it was rated a 2-star in May 2019 and October 2017 - and 3-star in October 2016.
Inspectors who visited Curry Hut on July 21 said 'urgent' improvements were necessary for the management of food safety.
According to the Food Standards Agency, at the time of the inspection the correct systems or checks were not in place to ensure food is safe to eat and that staff know about food safety.
Improvements were also found to be necessary for the hygienic handling of food, including preparation, cooking, re-heating, cooling and storage.
The cleanliness and condition of facilities were also deemed to need 'major improvements'.
Owner of Curry Hut Mohammed Yaseen believes the low rating is due to the bins overflowing at the time of inspection.
"We had two companies supplying us with bins but we cancelled one and they didn't take the bins away," he said.
"After telling us that needed to be done, [the bins] were removed.
"The inspectors could only rate us on what they saw."
He added: "Everyone is plastering it on Facebook writing negative stuff and saying we are closed. It is heartbreaking."
Mohammed says that since receiving feedback from the inspectors steps to improve have been taken and that a re-inspection is due to take place soon.
