Gosberton pub is up for sale

A village pub which has been closed for some time has been placed on the market - prompting hopes that it could reopen under new ownership.

The Bell Inn in Gosberton has been put on the market for £260,000 after the current owners have decided to call time on their tenure of the High Street pub due to ill health.

Sadly the 19th century pub, which boasts a commercial kitchen, main bar and games room, has been shut for sometime but locals are now hoping that it will reopen under new ownership.

The Bell is the only pub in Gosberton so villagers are now having to travel to nearby Donington or Surfleet for a pint. The drought is made worse as The Black Bull in nearby Gosberton Risegate closed earlier this year along with the White Hart in Quadring.

Gosberton Parish Council chairman Neil Oakman would like to see The Bell up and running once more.

He said: “I think we need a pub and it is a great shame as the last owners took over as covid kicked off and really didn’t have much of a chance.

“When I moved here there were four pubs and this was probably the last one to go.

“The parish council had previously discussed The Bell to look into getting it registered as a community asset.”

The Bell, which is being marketed by Sidney Phillips Ltd, has a traditional bar area with a wood burner.

All the fixtures and fittings are included within the sale of the pub - which also boasts three double bedrooms.

The brochure states: “Pub with scope to offer food via commercial kitchen.

“Main bar, games room, rear car park and trade patio. Three double bedroom private accommodation. Only public house within the village of Gosberton. Reluctant sale due to ill health/retirement.”
