Holbeach Horse and Groom and Gosberton Risegate Duke of York both on the market
Two pubs have been placed on the market, but only one of them will serve customers again.
The Horse and Groom in Holbeach has gone up for sale with a £575,000 price tag.
The town pub and guest house, which sits in the heart of the High Street has been listed as a successful business with a ‘net turnover circa £345,000’.
The five bedroom pub and restaurant is on the market with estate agent Sidney Phillips.
Gosberton Risegate’s Duke of York (pictured) has also been put up for sale.
However, after having been given planning permission to be demolished recently, the pub site is being sold for development.
The site, on Risegate Road, is currently made up of the former pub buildings with car park and open land, measuring approximately 0.60 acres.
Outline planning consent was granted by South Holland District Council for the development of the site.
The illustrative plans included in the planning application, provided by agent R Longstaff and Co, show the site layout as being for four terraced and three detached dwellings, all with three bedrooms.
The plans also show that the properties would be accessed by a private drive.
The site comes with a £450,000 price tag.
At September’s meeting of the South Holland District Council planning committee, Lucy Stevens, daughter of applicant Sue Goodenough, provided evidence of the pub’s decline over the last few years. It has been empty since October 2020.
The applicants had previously said the building was in a state of disrepair with rising damp and woodworm - and that it was in need of a new roof.
They had also said that the pub was costing £600 per month in business rates, council tax and insurance.
