Sutton Bridge hosts art project in joy to celebrate local community

A village green is to host a number of free wood-carving workshops to inspire the local community.

Famous Sutton Bridge landmarks such as St Mary's Church and Crosskeys Bridge, will be celebrated in the new Perch Project.

The project is being funded by the Lincolnshire County Council and, Transported.

The workshops will occur on Saturdays, July 2, 9, 16 and 23 in the Transported Gazebo on Bridge Road Green in Sutton Bridge across from the village green from 10:30am to 2:30pm and is open to the local public of all ages.

During the sessions participants will collaborate to carve six way-makers that will also contain seats for people to "Perch on", which is a nod to local-man Petter Scott, whom owns a local lighthouse.

Carver Peter Tree will be contributing his talents to helping and guiding the workshops.

The art-work created is looking to be completed and implemented by Spring of 2023, with hopeful plans to run a festival celebration style event based on a theme in relation to Sutton Bridge; including members of the local public and visitors to enjoy. This festival is sure to brighten the summer spirit of local residents while bringing attention to local businesses, while bequeathing personal artwork to the community.
