Tydd St Mary villagers mark 100th birthday of one of their own

Villagers joined together to celebrate a major landmark birthday of one of their own.

Dorothy Barker celebrated her 100th birthday on Thursday October 5 with her family with a special meal at Pippa’s Pantry in Sutton Bridge, but her fellow residents in Tydd St Mary did not want to let the occasion go unmarked.

So they dedicated the regular afternoon tea at the village hall the next day to the special occasion.

Dorothy has lived in Tydd St Mary her whole life and is a regular at the afternoon teas, which are held twice monthly.

Fellow attendees toasted her with tea and cake, while Dorothy showed off her special card from the King.

Among those present was her granddaughter Caroline Burton who organised a special cake, which was dished out after the traditional singing of ‘happy birthday’.
