Donington Christmas market was a big success despite the weather




Snow added a special touch to a village’s Christmas market.

Donington Parish Council organised its annual Christmas lights switch-on event on Sunday – which brought out villagers and their families..

Coun Jane King said “It was very successful – though very cold and wet.

“But we made the best of the situation and felt sorry for areas that cancelled their plans due to the weather.

“We had to cancel our Santa run because it wasn’t safe but all had a good time – and a few walked it.”

The organising committee included Michelle Garfoot, Nicky Burrdell and Antoinette.

Coun King added: “Next we will do something and try and make it bigger and better – we just can’t predict the weather.”
