Spalding Tennis Club open day sees youngsters have ‘volley’ good time
A ‘volley’ good time was had by all at an open day held at a town’s tennis club.
Spalding Tennis Club invited youngsters and parents to learn how to play the game at a free coaching afternoon on Saturday (March 29).
Head coach Enoch Annan and assistant coach Hayden Bingham taught drills and technique.
Mr Annan said: “It was a good turnout and the parents were happy with all the sessions.
“There was a lovely atmosphere and the kids enjoyed themselves.
“There was no water from the skies either.”
Youngsters learnt different techniques and had the opportunity to see if they liked the sport.
Mr Annan added: “We played some fun games.
“Tennis is not just for the privileged.
“Anyone can play and get involved.”
Mr Annan is an international player, member of the Professional Tennis Registry (PTR) and accredited as a level three coach with the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA).
There will be an Easter Tennis Camp taking place at the club on April 7, 14 and 15 from 11am until 2pm.
Players are advised to bring a packed lunch and drinks.
Amanda Halifax, club member, said: “It was a fantastic turn out and the best open day we have had with so many young people and parents enjoying an afternoon of fun tennis and learning new skills too.
“Enoch plans to run more of these free open days to give everyone the opportunity to learn and play tennis in a happy club environment with fantastic safeguarding for children too as well as first class coaches.”
In September 2023 the club celebrated the installation of new LED floodlights which provide year-round tennis opportunities on their all-weather courts.
