Spalding parish church encourages people to have a go at bell ringing

A parish church is encouraging volunteers to learn the ropes in campanology, the practice of bell ringing.

Lessons in the art are being provided at St Mary and St Nicolas church, Spalding, and those interested in getting involved are urged to come forward.

One person who has recently had a go at ringing the parish church bells is district councillor Mark Le Sage.

The St Mary’s ward member said: “I recently attended a volunteer event at Spalding Parish Church and now have had the opportunity to have a go at bell ringing.

“It was a really great experience and Paul, who gave me the lesson, was a wonderful teacher.

“I would certainly recommend having a go if it's something you fancy getting involved with.”

If you would also like to try ringing the bells or want to join the team, contact the parish church office by calling 01775 722772.
