Walk-in Covid jabs at Springfields in Spalding tomorrow

Walk-in Covid vaccine appointments are available at Springfields Events and Conference Centre in Spalding tomorrow (Friday).

The session runs from noon until 8pm and will offer Pfizer and Astra Zeneca jabs - with people having the chance to turn up to get their first or second jab.

Last week we reported how parts of Spalding lag behind in the race to rollout the vaccine - with a series of pop-up sessions around the town to help boost the takeup.

Health bosses say the last session at Springfields on July 17 saw vaccines administered to just under 200 people. Pop-ups at Spalding Skate Park, Sheep Market Car Park, Monks House Lane Playing Field, the Johnson Hospital and the Fun Farm averaged about 50 per day each.

Walk-in vaccine sessions also run from 8am until 7pm seven days a week at the Princess Royal Sports Arena in Wyberton Fen.

The Covid infection rate in South Holland has dropped in the last seven days. There were 164 reported cases in the last week, down 42.3% week on week, and the infection rate is now 215.7 per 100,000. The national average is 353.5.

One more person has died in the last week within 28 days of a positive test, taking the district’s total to 196.
