Holbeach Parish Council virtual meeting turns into 'bonfire' of accusations
The reputation of Holbeach Parish Council is at risk of sinking to an all-time low after a shocking turn of events during an online meeting last night.
Accusations of cliques, bickering, undermining of council staff and decisions being made "under the table" spilled over as grievances were aired live during the council's monthly meeting.
The outbursts led Holbeach county councillor Nick Worth to post a message on social media this morning, saying: "A bonfire was truly lit under Holbeach Parish Council last night.
"What will emerge from the ashes I am not sure, but some of the things said would make a Standards Board (a body promoting high standards in local government) shudder.
"Airing your dirty linen in public is one thing, but last night's airing will do them no favours."
