Workers at Spalding Bakkavor vote ‘overwhelmingly’ to go on strike

Workers at a Spalding factory have voted ‘overwhelmingly’ to go on strike.

Unite the Union says its members at the Bakkavor site in Spalding, are angry over the lack of progress in pay negotiations with the company.

The union has around 700 members at the factory and a recent ballot saw 92% were in favour of action in a recent ballot.

A union spokesman said: "Unite's membership at Bakkavor foods have voted overwhelmingly for industrial action. They are rightly angry over the lack of progress in the current pay negotiations whilst the company is raking in millions in profits. Strike action could see shortages on supermarket shelves as workers in Spalding fight for a decent wage."
