Anglian Water says it is ‘monitoring the situation’ after hose pipe ban declared in Gloucestershire, Oxfordshire, Berkshire and Wiltshire
Water bosses say they are ‘monitoring the situation’ after a hose pipe ban has been declared in another part of the country.
Anglian Water says it is doing everything it can to protect the agricultural sector in the area after one of the driest springs in a century but has not declared a hose pipe ban in Lincolnshire.
Thames Water has announced a hose pipe ban for 1.1 million people in Gloucestershire, Oxfordshire, Berkshire and Wiltshire to protect water supplies.
The Environment Agency has not yet placed this region into 'prolonged dry weather' or drought status.
An Anglian Water spokesman said: "We're working round the clock to manage the impact of what has been the driest spring in the East of England for over 100 years.
“Protecting the environment and the vital agricultural sector in the region in the face of such unusually dry conditions means doing everything we can to leave as much water in the environment as possible.
"At this moment in time, we're continuing to monitor the situation closely and we will take further steps to protect the environment if they are required."
