Spalding area farmer Eddy Gent says farmers will need enthusiastic help to bring in the harvest

As the whole country is on an emergency footing we all have to pull together and do our bit.

Farmers are as busy as usual producing food for all to enjoy.

At this time of year plenty is going on, due to the wet autumn we have more spring cropping than usual to get established.

Some of the heavier land is still quite wet but with the dry settled weather we have seen lately has helped us get on with the drilling necessary to get the crops growing for the coming harvest.

Farmers are very resourceful, and we have plenty of options of crops to grow at different times of the year to keep the food shelves stocked.

But we will need help to get all the crops safely harvested.

This is an important job and we rely on finding good enthusiastic and reliable people to work together gathering in the harvest for all to enjoy.

Due to the restrictions on movement now it may be more difficult than usual to find people to do this important work.

Yet there will be people who are unable to do their usual jobs that could help on local farms when needed.

Please look out for any opportunities where you could help local food producers with their important tasks.
