Spalding is forecast thunderstorms and heavy showers as yellow weather warning issued by the Met Office

A yellow weather warning has been issued for thunderstorms and heavy rain in Spalding and the surrounding area.

The Met Office is forecasting torrential downpours for much of this afternoon, with some areas expecting 15-20mm of rain within an hour and 30-50mm in three hours.

The warning is in place from 12pm until 7pm this evening.

Heavy showers are likely to impact travel, with spray from the roads and standing water likely to affect driving conditions.

Delays to train services are also possible.

Homes and businesses may flood, while lightning strikes may cause damage to buildings and structures.
