Forget-Me-Not Cafe in Crowland open every Thursday for people with dementia and their carers
People living with dementia and their carers in the Crowland area are welcome at a weekly group in the town.
The Forget-Me-Not Café meets at the Snowdon Pavilion, off Thorney Road, every Thursday between 10am and noon.
It is jointly run by Crowland Cares, Abbeyview Surgery and Spalding-based health and wellbeing charity, Tonic Health, following its launch in March.
Lucy Bale, the café’s co-ordinator, said: "Forget-Me-Not Café provides a safe and informal place where people with dementia and their carers can come and participate in a range of enjoyable activities, such as singing, arts and crafts, quizzes and talks by guest speakers.
"There is also the opportunity for carers to obtain advice and support about how the three organisations have come together to deliver this dementia support project for the people of Crowland.
"However, we do not allow the reality of dementia to override what we do as we come together in order to have fun, meet with each other and offer support to those in an identical or similar position."
People attending the café are asked to make a small contribution of £2.50 per person towards the costs of refreshments, materials used for the activities and room hire.
Lucy said: "The group is going from strength to strength and we hope it will continue to in the future, supporting as many people as possible and raising awareness of dementia along the way."
In support of the café, Crowland is also to host a new dementia FOCUS group which starts on Monday, October 14, from 10am until 4pm.
A range of activities will be put on "to stimulate body and mind", with a different theme to be focused on at each session.
Abbeyview Surgery, Crowland Cares and Tonic Health are once again partnering to provide day care for those with dementia, with funding from the National Lottery and Lincolnshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust through its Managed Care Network.
The sessions will be open to a maximum of 12 people at a cost of £20 for each session, but pre-booking is essential and for more information, call Tonic Health on 01775 725059.
