Wheelbarrow racing and music brought out crowds to Holbeach town centre for Jubilee party
Crowds gathered in Holbeach town centre to enjoy a day of fun to mark the Queen's Platinum Jubilee.
Holbeach Parish Council organised a range of activities, including wheelbarrow racing and music, in Church Street earlier today.
Two teams in the wheelbarrow race were challenged to a relay obstacle race which included drinking a slushie at Laddies Ices and racing through the bouncy castle obstacle course.
Terry and Liz Martin, aka Hedgehog Reality, entertained the crowds by performing in front of the majestic All Saints Church plus there was a bar, seating and bouncy castles.
A number of stalls were set up along Church Street, which had been closed to traffic thanks to the donation from Coun Tracey Carter's ward budget.
Holbeach Rainbows, Brownies and Guides, which are looking for helpers, ran a tombola and treasure hunt from their stall. Debbie Machin and Catherine Burr were among the people who manned the stand.
Members of the Women's Institute had been busy baking in the run-up to the event and were selling delicious cakes.
Jean Dewhirst said: "It has been a really good day - we have made a fortune!"
Another popular attraction was the exhibition of Holbeach's history which had been compiled by Linden Secker.
Mr Secker displayed some of the many photographs from his collection along with town stories in the Reading Rooms.
He said: "I live in Holbeach and I love the history so the feedback from today has been very rewarding.
"I tried to relate pictures to the town as it stands today so it would be interesting to everyone."
Holbeach Marsh Vintage Tractor Club also took part in the event with a display.
Christine Pearsall said: "It has been a brilliant day."
Parish council chairman Stephen Johnson and vice-chairman Sophie Hutchinson are over the moon with the day's success.
Coun Johnson said: "The day has been fabulous and the turn-out has been brilliant. Lots of people have been out to come to have a look at what has taken place.
"It has been amazing to see the enthusiasm and sheer determination of those people taking part in the wheelbarrow race when they crossed the line."
