Scrivens Opticians in Market Deeping celebrates pensioner's positive attitude to life
A pensioner received a surprise gift from his opticians.
Colin Smith was given a hamper from staff at Scrivens Opticians in Market Deeping.
He was chosen for his positive approach to life.
The 87-year-old is a retired instructor with the Road Transport Industry Training Board. His wife Janet died last year.
Shop manager Jeanette Green said: “It was part of our company’s festive campaign to celebrate customers who we felt deserved a treat.
"Mr Smith was a full-time carer for his wife who was extremely poorly for a long time, and his own health took a back seat as she was always his priority.
"When talking about his wife he will proudly say he would do it all again for her.
“Every time he comes in he is happy, joking and an absolute pleasure. He deserves any treats we can send his way.”
Colin said: “It was a nice surprise to be thought of in this way. I have always been someone who looks on the bright side.”
