Regeneration of Gosberton Playing Field takes shape with 'strategy of how it can be developed for future use'
A masterplan has been drawn up for the regeneration of Gosberton Playing Field.
Features including a sensory garden, jogging and cycle tracks, outdoor classroom, fitness equipment, football pitch and tennis court could all form part of the playing field's transformation.
Gosberton Community Action Group (GCAT) and volunteers from a working group met with parish councillors to discuss their ideas for the playing field at a meeting before Easter.
Coun Tim Smith said: "The purpose of the group is to put together some sort of strategy of how the playing field can be developed for future use.
"Our proposal is to have things like a basket swing, zip wire, sensory garden and a planted area where people can go and sit.
"There's also a proposal for a footpath to give people access to the various things, also allowing for a jogging track and a slightly wider area to give wheelchair users easier access.
"Some of the other proposals are to have a bicycle track for BMX riders, an outdoor classroom area, fitness equipment, planting of new trees, picnic area and a multi-use games area.
"The idea of putting together a list of things we want to do is so that we can concentrate on the most important thing first which is the footpath."
The playing field project was originally put forward by Gosberton villager Ashley Killon during a parish council meeting in December 2018.
In her first annual report as parish council chairman, Coun Sue Thorley said: "Mr Killon reported that he had already been successful in securing a number of trees and hedging plans from The Woodland Trust.
"These have now been planted and GCAT is hopeful that it will be successful in fundraising for both additional play equipment and the play area in general.
"It will be exciting to see our playing field become a more attractive place to be and whatever we manage to achieve, albeit in small steps, they will be positive steps in the right direction."
