Fundraiser at Johnson Community Hospital, Pinchbeck for former Royal Marine Pen Farthing’s charity Nowzad delivers aid to horses and donkeys in Afghanistan
First aid kits are among some of the items supplied to injured horses and donkeys in Afghanistan following a successful fundraiser in South Holland.
Natalie Elves raised £140 for Nowzad, an animal charity set up by former Royal Marine commando Pen Farthing, during an event at the Johnson Community Hospital in Pinchbck.
Mr Farthing served in the town of Nawzad, Afghanistan, and evacuated 67 people and 162 animals from Kabul when it fell into Taliban control.
Mrs Elves said: “I have just returned from an event in informing the supporters of where their donations go.
“The team have managed to supply the local people with first aid kids to provide immediate care for any injured donkeys or horses.
“They have also managed to get a medic van so they can go and treat animals that are unable to visit the Kabul hospital.”
Mrs Elves, who provides nursing care for St Barnabas, met Mr Farthing at his book launch in Exeter.
The charity continues to deliver vital aid to Ukraine including dog and cat food to the Nowzad warehouse in Lviv.
Mrs Elves added: “Without supporters the charity can’t help those poor animals - this is when I wish I was a millionaire.”
