Work begins to put Johnson Fountain in Spalding's Ayscoughfee Gardens
Work has now begun to put the Johnson Drinking Fountain in Ayscoughfee Gardens.
The historic structure has been the subject of a big debate - with the Spalding and District Civic Society feeling the public should have been given a say on where it goes.
However, South Holland District Council's own planning department gave permission for the authority to put it on the former paddling pool site in October and that work is now being carried out.
The area - near the cafe - is fenced off, with the parts of the fountain being placed in position for it to be reconstructed.
The fountain was removed from Ayscoughfee in 2018 to make way for a new war memorial.
It had been moved to the grounds of the historic hall in the 1950s, having originally been sited in Hall Place in 1874.
The fountain honours Mary Ann Johnson's role in bringing drinking water to the town - and the council has promised that information boards will be placed next to it explaining its story.
