Contractors will be planting up Spalding Western Relief Road roundabout

Roadworks will be cropping up around a new roundabout while gardeners plant up the site.

Lincolnshire County Council will undertaking cultivation work around the new Spalding Western Relief Road in the coming weeks.

Signs warning that roadworks will be starting today – and finishing on October 13. Bosses have stressed that traffic management will only be in place when the contractor need access to the inner ring of the new roundabout.

The area will be marked out by cones to allow parked vehicles to be safe when activities take place.

Cultivation works, bulb planting and grass seeding will be taking place on the roundabout, along with land around the cul-de-sac.

Work has been underway since January 2022 on the construction of the northern section of the new route – the first leg of an eventual bypass of Spalding.

Earlier this year we revealed that this project has been delayed. It had been due to end in a few weeks, but won’t now be complete until next summer.

Funding for the southern section of the road has been ‘reallocated’, with Lincolnshire County Council now saying work on this won’t begin until 2030.
