Work is taking place in the former Beales store in Bridge Street, Spalding

Work appears to be happening in a prominent vacant shop – prompting hopes that a new tenant has finally been found.

The Beales store in Bridge Street, Spalding, has been empty for nearly four years after the department store shut its doors for the final time at the start of the pandemic.

While the Market Place section of the store has now been filled with The Original Factory Shop, the rest of the store had remained vacant.

But this morning (Tuesday, February 20) the lights are on in the Bridge Street side of the store and the door is slightly ajar this morning plus there are boxes outside the window.

We have approached the owners for comment.

Any improvement on this vacant site would be a positive move for the town along with the progression of the Spalding Town Board which will be spending £20million Levelling Up money over the next 10 years.
