Work on Spalding’s Springfields roundabout – where the A16 meets the A151 – reaching halfway stage
Work on the Springfields roundabout is reaching the halfway stage.
Plans to widen the roundabout – where the A16 meets the A151 just outside of Spalding – began on September 25 last year.
The 12-month project, which is being funded by Government levelling up cash as part of three projects costing £20 million, will reach the halfway mark in three weeks’ time.
Work completed in February by Lincolnshire County Council included: continued earthworks in the northeast and southwest corners; the completion of kerbing and drainage in the northeast and southwest corners and the construction of a new carriageway on the northeast and southwest corners.

On top of this, street lighting ducting was installed and work began on topsoiling the verges.
Throughout March, it is planned to: complete earthworks and verges in the northeast and southwest; switch over to working in the northwest and southeast areas of site; start earthworks and drainage in the northwest and southeast corners and start BT diversion in the southeast corner.
Lanes will remain narrowed as work continues.
