Welcome to Spalding: roundabout car (and its lights!) to be removed

Work has started to remove the car, which has been decorated with Christmas lights, that has been blighting a major roundabout for weeks.

Police are reported to have parked the car on the A16/A151 roundabout, near Springfields, following a collision a few weeks ago.

South Holland District Council is getting the car removed but is calling for residents' help in clearing up the area.

A council spokesperson said: “Following an RTC on the roundabout, we were notified that Lincolnshire Police had investigated the incident and worked to ensure that the site was safe and that the vehicle had been moved clear of the road.

"The car was reported as abandoned to the council earlier today (Thursday, November 28) and we’ve now begun the process of working with the vehicle’s owner to get it removed as soon as possible.

“We are aware of several recent similar instances where photos or information have been posted on social media but not reported to us.

"To allow us to gather the necessary facts and to act quickly where action is needed, we would ask that those who do record these incidents on social media also please either tag South Holland District Council into their posts, or use our Report It function via our website.

“Residents can tag the Council into their social media posts through Facebook (SHDC_official) or Twitter (@SHollandDC), or make a direct report via our website at www.sholland.gov.uk/reportit.”
