Jerry Green Dog Rescue calling for people to sign up to foster a pet

In the latest Man's Best Friend column, Jerry Green Dog Rescue is on the lookout for people who could foster a pet.

Fostering one dog won’t change the world. But for that one dog, their world will change forever.

From a doggy day out, to giving much needed respite away from the kennels, to nursing a dog back to health following an illness or operation - our dogs need you!

Fostering provides a wonderful opportunity for dogs who find the kennel environment distressing, to spend their time waiting for adoption in a caring, comfortable home.

By taking them into your home for a time, you will be improving their wellbeing and allowing them to be their best, natural selves. Adopters can see the dogs behaving as they will if taken into a new home, and it’s no surprise that adoptions from a foster home settle into their long-term environments much quicker and easier.

What’s more, the space freed up at our centre will enable us to help another dog in need of shelter and rehoming – so you’ll be helping more than just the dog you foster!

All the costs of the dog will be covered by us while the dog is with you. We can provide you with all the bedding and equipment you need, along with food for the dog and any veterinary treatment required.

All you need to provide is love and care. From lonely mutts, expectant mums and litters of puppies, to old and recovering dogs.

Cute Casper is spookily cute - and needs a new home

BOO! My name is Casper the bouncy puppy looking for a home with people who have experience with big fluffy dogs like me.

I know what you are thinking, I am so pretty aren’t I?! People just cannot resist my eyes.

I am still only young, and I do need some help with some general manners, I can be boisterous at times so if you are used to big bouncy dogs then I would be perfect for you.

I really like food, so when it comes to training, I will be quick to learn! At the moment I would prefer to be the only dog and pet in the home, however I would benefit from socialising with other dogs.

I need to live in a home with children aged 18 and above. I would also like my new owners to be around most of the time, I am not used to being left and can find it quite worrying - so my leaving hours will need building up gradually. But I am sure once I am used to my surroundings I could be left for a couple of hours.
