Spalding Water Taxi's 2023 service to launch on Saturday April 1

It’s been the site of a marriage proposal, listed alongside the Taj Mahal as a top tourist must and for some a fun way to get to the shops.

But however you view the award-winning Spalding Water Taxi, you could be in line for a free trip.

The 2023 season will begin on Saturday (April 1), offering popular 40-minute cruises between the town centre and Springfields Outlet Centre.

And the first two journeys in both directions will be free of charge to customers.

“That first trip from town and from Springfields (both 10am) will be free, first come first served,” said operations manager Anthony Grunwell.

“It’s exactly the same timetable and exactly the same price as last year.”

Last year saw the water taxi return for the first time since 2019, due to the Covid pandemic.

But it was quite the year as passenger Carl Bland proposed to partner Christine Haw, with the business also scooping the Lincolnshire Chamber of Commerce excellence in customer service award and the Trip Advisor Travellers’ Choice accolade.

“According to Trip Advisor we are in the top 10% of worldwide attractions,” Mr Grunwell added.

“I tell clients we’ve got the Taj Mahal on one page and Spalding Water Taxi on the next.”

Fares cost £3.50 for a single, £7 return and £10 for a two adult, two child family ticket. A full timetable can be viewed at www.spaldingwatertaxi.co.uk
