Footballer invited onto England Lionesses pathway while Moulton Chapel teammates sign for Peterborough and Lincoln clubs

A village football club is delighted with the success of its young female players – with one invited to a special Future Lionesses event while others have signed for city clubs.

Ivy Lane (15), of Cowbit, who plays right-wing for Moulton Chapel Football Club’s under 15 girls’ team, was invited to the FA Women’s England Talent Pathway ‘Future Lionesses’ Talent ID Event, for the Midlands and East Region, in Milton Keynes, earlier this month (November 11).

Spalding High School pupil Ivy is in her third season at Moulton Chapel and also plays for Peterborough Elite and Lincoln ETC football teams.

The Future Lionesses session she attended was organised to enable FA staff to Talent ID players referred to them during the season and she may be invited back to attend more.

Her teammates centre-midfielder Eloise Crisp (13), of Whaplode, and striker Paris Sleight (14), of Lutton, both pupils at University Academy Holbeach, have also recently signed with Peterborough Elites and Lincoln ETC as well.

While Paris has also been invited to take part in an English premier league Talent ID trial.

Under-13 player Georgie Bottle, who lives in Weston Hills and attends Spalding Academy, is also playing for Peterborough United Football Club.

Luke Salter, Moulton Chapel Football Club chairman, said it’s wonderful to see the girls achieving great success within the sport for both their club and other teams.

He added: “It’s amazing. We’re incredibly proud of all the girls who play here, but it’s wonderful to see Ivy, Paris and Eloise’s hard work and determination to succeed paying off.

“All credit to them. They’re all still playing for us, but we just want to wish them all the best of luck with their football here and beyond.”

Moulton Chapel currently has two girls football teams – under 13s who play in the Lincolnshire Women and Girl’s County Football League and the under 15s who compete in the Alan Boswell Group Cambridgeshire Girls and Women’s Football League.

Mr Salter said the recent success of the England Lionesses has sparked a massive interest in the girls’ game and hopes that more girls’ teams can be established at the club, which is based in Cekhira Avenue.
