Income tax bill was for 80p!
So you think the EU is full of petty bureaucrats.
HMRC has just sent me an income tax bill for the princely sum of 80 pence. Not only that, they tell me that I risk a fine of £100 if I don’t pay.
The costs associated with processing this payment will be more than the debt. Add the cost of the five minute phone conversation with an HMRC representative confirming and paying the debt and we’re looking at a total cost that make that 80p insignificant.
Petty EU bureaucrats? It appears some of our own bureaucrats are not only as petty but also mind-numbingly stupid. We all pay for this type of civil service incompetence. Would the powers that be care to comment?

Disappointed MP rejected amendment
I am deeply disappointed that our Member of Parliament has supported the rejection of an amendment, proposed by former child refugee Lord Alf Dubs, which offered support to vulnerable children.
The Prime Minister accepted the Dubs amendment. He has now turned his back on it. I cannot think of a single excuse for this heartless decision.

Thank you for your generosity
The firefighters and cadets at Spalding Fire Station would like to say ‘Thank you’ to the people of Spalding who gave so generously to The Firefighters Charity when we accompanied Santa with his visit to the town just before Christmas.
We made six collections between December 12 and 23 and raised a total of £1509.87.

A dishonest campaign
This coming Friday, along with millions of other British people, I will be stripped of my EU citizenship against my will, despite having done nothing wrong.
This situation has come about as a result of breaches of electoral law and data protection laws by the Leave campaign, together with their unprecedented industrial scale deceit and dishonesty.
Nothing demonstrates this dishonesty more than the contradictions in the Leave campaign’s own narrative regarding Friday. They claim we need to leave the EU to regain our independence as the EU is an undemocratic dictatorship.
If we were not already a fully independent country we would not be able to leave. If the EU really is an undemocratic dictatorship, as leavers claim, we would not be allowed to leave.
For the future of our country and our democracy, this fraud cannot be allowed to stand. The campaign to Rejoin the EU is already underway and will prevail. Right will always eventually prevail over wrong.
I am European.
