'What about the sanctity and health of the living pregnant woman?'

Here are the letters from this week's Lincolnshire Free Press...

Women’s rights should not be up for debate

In response to the article published about MP John Hayes’ views on abortion, I could not passionately and wholeheartedly disagree more.

Abortion is healthcare, and women’s rights should not be up for debate.

Women are not your property and men should not be able to restrict or remove women’s rights, especially because of their own religious beliefs.

He talks about the sanctity of life, what about the sanctity and health of the living pregnant woman?

I’m very disappointed that he’d like to encourage and urge this debate, and even without a proposed amended time limit, it’s akin to starting a fire and walking away.

It’s easy for men to be pro-life when they aren’t the ones being pregnant.

Rubbish from a man who should know much better

As a retired consultant physician at Peterborough,Stamford and Bourne Hospitals with 30 years experience in the modern NHS, I cannot be silent about the gratuitous nonsense being peddled by our so-called caring M P.

In law, before 24 weeks gestation, the foetus is dependent on the mother for nutrition and it is an integral part of her body – it is not a separate life.

This is typical anti-science rubbish from a man who should know better.

That he feels able to say this out loud shows the level of his contempt for the women voters in this constituency who I trust will reject him and the Tories at the soonest opportunity.

There is a Chinese saying “Women hold up half of the sky” and it’s time they drop their half on this rotten MP and his corrupt prime minister.
