Your views on plans for Spalding and the town's pigeon problem
Here are the latest letters sent to the Lincolnshire Free Press...
They won’t listen to your views anyway
It’s interesting to see that the council (South Holland District) are asking for our thoughts and views on how the town should evolve.
This comes from the same council that has gone against the overwhelming view that the water fountain should be back in the town centre.
The same council that put a picture of the fountain in Ayscoughfee in a mock up before planning has even been passed.
Also the same council that appears to have decided already what the new Castle Sports Complex will look like with no consultation to those that will use it.
If you felt in any way that views would be listened to and not ignored it would perhaps be worth bothering.
Perhaps they could have an ‘independent report’ done which will conclude exactly what they want, yet again.

She should apologise to Chris Packham
Let me first start by saying that I have never felt so much disgust than I did on reading Coun Angela Newton’s comments about Chris Packham.
When discussing the pigeon issues in Spalding town centre and talking about taking a gun to them all and shooting them, she said: “But we have the Packhams of this world who are do-gooders.”
So... are all us naturalists who happily live in harmony, side by side with nature, ‘do-gooders’ Mrs Newton??
Chris Packham is an expert in nature and has a CBE for doing such a fantastic job. What exactly have you done Mrs Newton?
I personally think that she should issue a full apology forthwith for airing such a toxic sentiment which has angered many nature lovers, and she should most definitely write to Mr Packham also to explain her slur.
As for the issue at hand Mrs Newton, surely you should listen to the people of the town who are predominately blaming those that sit in Hall Place feeding the birds greasy chips as the main cause of all of this.
If you were a bird, you would head to where food was, wouldn’t you Mrs Newton?
