Calls to add a zebra crossing to improve ‘dangerous’ road at Spalding Bus Station

A zebra crossing is needed to help improve a ‘dangerous’ crossing around a bus station, says a regular passenger.

David Jones feels that the road which links SpaldingBus Station and Holland Market should have a crossing in order to make things safer for pedestrians.

Mr Jones, who is a member of campaign group Pedals, is a regular user of the bus station and has been calling for improvements to the site during recent meetings of Spalding Town Forum.

Speaking during Wednesday’s meeting, Mr Jones said: “Motorists are unaware that people are crossing there. Could we contact Lincolnshire County Council to extend zebra stripes. It really is quite dangerous.

“I really don’t like crossing that bit of road.”

Forum chairman Coun Rob Gibson, who also sits on the county council, said that he would put that forward.

Last December, a woman in her 60s was taken to hospital after being hit by a bus at the Winfrey Avenue station.
