“An extremely difficult decision to make as I have fallen in love with the club!” Search begins for new manager as Danny Clifton leaves Holbeach United dugout
Holbeach United manager Danny Clifton has made the ‘extremely difficult decision’ to leave his role at Carter’s Park.
The Tigers have begun the search for a replacement as the current boss will step aside at the end of the campaign due to ‘circumstances outside of football’.
However, Clifton will not be severing ties completely.
“It was an extremely difficult decision to make as I have fallen in love with the club,” Clifton said.
“Whoever takes on the role has an extremely exciting project (to be part of) and I will be on hand to assist where I can.
“This club has huge potential, a great foundation to build on, and excellent people around it.
“I sincerely thank everyone for the support that I’ve had - it’s been first class.”
Holbeach will play their final home match of the Thurlow Nunn League Division One North campaign on Saturday when they entertain Whitton United at Carter's Park.
The campaign concludes the following weekend at Stanway Pegasus.
“Unfortunately, the club can announce that first team manager Danny Clifton will be stepping down at the end of the season,” a Tigers statement revealed.
“Circumstances outside of football is the reason for his decision and we are pleased he will remain within the club in some capacity.
“We thank Danny for his efforts, the rebuilding he has undertaken and his conduct in and around the club with the wider Tigers team over the past two-and-a-half years.
“The process has begun within the club to look at appointing a new first team manager and we will keep everyone undated in due course.”
Holbeach are currently sixth in the table.
