Round-up of the racing action in the stock car meeting at King's Lynn

Local drivers enjoyed improved fortunes in the 1300 Stock Cars at King’s Lynn last weekend with both Harri Cole and Caine Parnell having a great night.

Following several close calls Cole finally recorded his first victory in the 1300 Stock Cars when he took a commanding win in the third heat of the night.

Cole was chased all the way home by Parnell whose progress so far in 2021 had been hindered by engine problems.

However, the power unit held together and Parnell showed he has lost none of the talent he showed in 2020 which saw him shoot up the grades to get close to Cole towards the end of the race.

Cole also had a great race in the meeting final when he was battling at the front of the grid – the confidence from his earlier victory clearly showing as he enjoyed another class race and, when the chequered fell, only Londoner Matt Arnold had found a way past Cole who was in second place but then unfortunately found himself docked into third place when the steward adjudged him to have jumped the start.

Nevertheless a heat win and fourth place in the final is a tremendous result and fans are looking forward to seeing how Cole progresses next meeting!

Also in action in the 1300 Stock Cars were Billy Newman and Reece Crane.

Newman had a ninth place finish in his heat and, although the pair had nothing else to show, they are progressing in the formula with each appearance and it will surely not be long before the two are regularly challenging for a top 10 finish.

The Unlimited Bangers saw success for Callum White who was in sensational form.

White took victory in the White and Yellow final which had been held over from last year and then put on a simply sensational display by winning not one but two entertainer awards in his next couple of races and in doing so was also the top entertainer league points scorer of the night as he scooped a massive 100 points which also saw him win a wild card seed into the Unlimited Banger World of Shale Final which takes place at King’s Lynn in September.

There is no racing at King’s Lynn this weekend with racing returning on Saturday, August 24, when the 2L Banger Shale world final will take centre stage with racing also coming from the 2L Stock Cars and Junior Bangers.

Following his success in the F1 Stock Cars at Buxton a fortnight ago when he won the meeting final, local star Finn Sargent was in action at Skegness last weekend where another fantastic tarmac performance saw him scoop his second F1 Stock Car feature victory in as many weeks.

Sargent’s performances have been so good that the sport’s administrators have taken the unusual step to move him up a grade to blue with immediate effect rather than wait to see how he does in the new grading period.

Sargent will be in action on the shale this coming weekend as he travels to Yorkshire and will be racing at Bradford’s Odsal Stadium on Saturday and Sheffield on Sunday.
