Market Deeping delivered the result of the day in the Lincolnshire Premier League after toppling reigning champions Bracebridge Heath on Saturday.

Jamie Morgan's men claimed a terrific two-wicket success at Cross O'Cliff Court to inflict a third defeat of the season on the perennial title winners.

The hosts had won the toss and predictably elected to bat first on a baking hot day, but the wicket seemed to favour the bowler with runs hard to come by.

Vikram Atri (20) and David Whapplington (21) had got Bracebridge off to a solid start with a 38-run opening partnership.

However, Matt Rose made the vital breakthrough to have Atri caught by James Hook with Sachithra Perera then running out Whapplington to leave the hosts on 62-2.

Deeping then started to assert their authority on proceedings as they took a further two Bracebridge wickets for the concession of just 16 runs.

Perera trapped Will Carter leg before with Hook then Samansiri Hannadige caught behind by wicket-keeper Sam Malton which left Bracebridge on 78-4.

Brett Houston continued to keep the runs ticking over, but the wickets continued to fall at the other end.

After Carl Stubbs had been bowled by Perera with the score on 109-5, Bracebridge lost another three wickets while adding just 20 runs.

Mehul Adatia bowled Andy Carter before Perera had Matthew Knights caught by Kieran Judd without scoring.

The Sri Lankan trapped Alex Moor leg before with his next delivery which left Bracebridge struggling on 129-8.

Houston and James Kimber added 37 runs for the penultimate wicket before the latter was out leg before to Tom Anderson for 10.

Houston was then the final Bracebridge wicket to fall four runs later after being caught by Anderson off Josh Smith for his side's top score of 70.

Perera finished as the pick of the Deeping bowlers with 4-29 from his 14-over spell.

Deeping lost a couple of early batsmen in their reply as Carter claimed the wickets of Judd and Connor Gillett cheaply with the visitors on 16-2.

Smith and Hook rallied the Deeping charge with the former thumping four fours and a six in his 34 until he was trapped leg before by Alex Moor.

Hook (31) was then joined by Malton as they added a vital 41 runs for the fourth wicket until Kimber started to sweep through the middle order.

He dismissed Hook leg before bowling Dave Sargeant as Deeping stuttered to 94-5 which soon become 108-6 as skipper Morgan also fell to Kimber for 12.

Malton and Rose brought the match back in Deeping's favour by adding 37 runs for the seventh wicket which took the visitors to 145-7.

Carter returned to the home attack to bowl Rose for 19 and then Kimber claimed his foourth wicket by having Perera caught by Atri for six.

However, Malton remained unmoved and his unbeaten 43 was supported by Adatia (7no) as Deeping claimed a memorable win with 13 balls to spare.

The victory leaves Deeping in seventh spot at the halfway stage of the league season.

Meanwhile, Bourne surged into second spot at the halfway stage of the Lincolnshire Premier League campaign after a 69-run home success over Boston on Saturday.

They are now just 11 points adrift of table-topping Sleaford who they meet in an intriguing clash at London Road on Saturday.

Bourne elected to bat first after winning the toss at a sun-drenched Abbey Lawn on Saturday with openers Sam Evison and Jack Berry going well early on.

They were just two runs shy of a half-century opening partnership when Berry was caught and bowled by Tim Bell for 27.

Bell then picked up another two wickets in quick succession by dismissing Courtney Kruger for two and skipper Pete Morgan first ball to leave Bourne bamboozled on 50-3.

Evison and Steven Crossley boosted the Bourne total to 77 until the home opener was bowled by Paul Deans for 36.

Rob Bentley blasted 15 off just 17 deliveries to take Bourne past the century mark before a stirring rally put a dent in Boston's bid for a second league success of the season.

Crossley and Tom Dixon put on 54 runs for the sixth wicket until the home wicket-keeper was trapped leg before by Boston skipper Tom Baxter for 40.

This brought Ben Slack out to join Dixon at the crease and they produced a superb match-defining partnership.

Slack smashed seven fours and a six in his half-century which came off just 46 balls as they added 94 runs for the seventh wicket until he was caught by Will Tetther as Bell bagged his fourth wicket.

Dixon was also dominant with three fours and two sixes in his unbeaten 52 off 55 balls which helped Bourne post 246-7 from their 50 overs.

Colin Cheer then ripped through the top order of his home-town club to leave Boston's reply on 25-3.

Cheer bowled both Ben Troops and Tetther without scoring with Crossley claiming the catch which helped dismiss Sam Holland for three.

Crossley then safely held onto an edge from Peter Mitchell off the bowling of Dan Bandaranaike as Boston stumbled to 34-4.

Skipper Baxter and Adeesha Thilanchana led the visitors' fightback with a 38-run stand for the fifth wicket until the Sri Lankan was caught by Morgan off Slack for 44.

Dixon was then introduced into the Bourne attack and followed up his fine innings by taking 3-51 from his eight over spell.

He had Baxter caught by Matt Kidd for 24 and then followed that up with the wicket of Deans for 34 after he had blasted eight boundaries in his 22-ball innings.

Ben Lawrence was then bowled first ball by Dixon to leave Boston on 156-8 which left Berry to blitz the remaining two wickets.

He had Paul Tetther caught by Dixon for a patient 27 before ending Scott Elleray's late swansong with a caught and bowled after the Boston tail-ender had smashed a four and two sixes in his 20 runs off just nine balls as the visitors were bowled out for 177.
