Holbeach United host Leicester Nirvana in the United Counties League Premier Division North

Holbeach United manager Danny Clifton is determined to taste that winning feeling before the end of the United Counties League campaign.

The Tigers are still without a win after 27 matches of the Premier Division North season and remain rooted to the foot of the table.

They are 15 points adrift of safety with just seven matches of the season remaining with three of those being against the leading quartet of teams in the division.

Holbeach host 10th-placed Leicester Nirvana at Carter's Park on Saturday with Clifton hoping his side can build on their encouraging performance at Melton Town last weekend.

He said: "We stuck to the task last weekend and did really well. It was a massive difference to the match at Loughborough in midweek.

"We got some plusses out of the game that we can take into this weekend's match which will be another tough test.

"Nirvana have picked up some great results but they've also had some strange ones so we will keep going because I still believe that we will win one football match before the end of the season."

The Tigers had been boosted by the return of striker Kyle Compton to the first team ranks at the weekend.

Compton had featured several times earlier in the season before being sent off in the home defeat against Skegness which was followed by a series of postponements for the Tigers.

Clifton commented: "Kyle made a huge difference to us last Saturday. He was winning his fair share of headers and also holding the ball up which got us up the pitch."

The Tigers boss was also in talks this week with two defenders over potential moves to Carter's Park.

Pinchbeck are without a league game this weekend while Deeping Rangers make the trip to face Eastwood who play on a 3G pitch.

The two sides shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw at the Haydon Whitham Stadium last month as part of Rangers' recent run which has seen them lose just twice in the last nine games.

Manager Daniel French said: "We have got some players who are really at the top of their game at the moment.

"The likes of Robbie Ellis, Jake Brown, Jake Showler and Will Bird have had really good months and we've generally been solid at the back all season.

"We are a match for anyone currently and, in the form which we're in, we have to be confident going to Eastwood on Saturday.

"We have performed quite well on 3G pitches this year so I am hopeful that we can just continue everything.

"If we can get another result then it puts us in a really good place."

Bourne have a daunting trip in Division One on Saturday as they travel to face league leaders Hinckley AFC.
