Spalding United host Leiston in the Southern League Premier Division Central
Jimmy Dean is calling for another big push from his injury-hit and suspension-ravaged Spalding United side as they round off a hectic spell of games tonight (Tuesday).
The Tulips host Leiston at the Sir Halley Stewart ground in their fourth Southern League Premier Division Central clash in 10 days.
They will be without the suspended duo of Connor Brown and Kyle Barker while James Clifton, Jonny Ngandu, Jordan Nicholson and Nathan Stainfield are all sidelined through injury.
But, despite the growing list of absentees, Dean is determined to continue the upturn in Spalding's fortunes which has seen them win four of their last five league games.
He said: "We have shown an unbelievable reaction from the Hitchin defeat to go Royston in midweek and then beat Banbury on Saturday.
"We've scored five goals and haven't conceded any against two good sides which is fantastic for us.
"We're just got to try and get through it and get a result even though we'll be missing some big players."
Dean believes a big improvement on the fitness of his squad has helped the Tulips start their climbing the league table in their first-ever season at step three of the non-league pyramid.
He commented: "I knew that it would take six weeks to get fit and it was worrying when we were in the relegation zone so it's been really big to be out of it.
"We were trying to get fit on the job because we were miles off it physically.
"We were doing our pre-season while still playing and trying to pick up points so I think that we've done a good job of it."
A crowd of 440 turned out on Saturday to watch the Tulips beat a Banbury side who were playing in the National League North last season.
Dean is now urging the Spalding fans to come getting behind their side as they host a Leiston team who are just one point and two places below the Tulips in the league table.
He added: "The fans have been brilliant and I know that it has been a difficult transition for them.
"We're still working on that and getting to know each other but this club has so much heart and soul in the place.
"It means a lot to the local people and I understand that. It was a good gate on Saturday and we need the fans to keep getting behind us because the players really feel the support."
Leiston picked up their first away league win of the season on Saturday after a 2-1 away victory at Redditch United.
Top scorer Jamar Loza netted twice for the Suffolk side to take his tally to 10 goals in all competitions this season.
