Deeping Rangers are beaten by Eastwood CFC in the United Counties League
Deeping Rangers dropped back into the United Counties League Premier Division North relegation zone after a heavy away defeat on Saturday.
The Clarets went down to a 5-0 reversal at new leaders Eastwood CFC who moved into top spot above Bourne Town on goal difference.
The defeat saw Shirebrook climb above Deeping despite losing 3-1 away at Ashby Ivanhoe while bottom of the table Kimberley Miners Welfare are just two points adrift of Rangers after an upturn in form.
It was a second recent five-goal away defeat for Rangers who are currently on a difficult run of fixtures against teams at the top end of the league table.
Boss Brett Whaley said: "The fixtures aren't being very kind to us at the moment but you can't get away from the fact that we've lost 5-0 in two of the last three games.
"There is a way to lose and there are a lot of similarities in our performances at the moment.
"We seem to concede early in games which makes it quite difficult and we're not in a good place.
"There were a couple of positives in a 5-0 defeat but I'm just masking the reality of where we are and we can't keep losing football matches like this.
"We could accept one 5-0 defeat as a bad day but, if it happens twice in two weeks, then it's a real problem."
Brett Whaley's side had gone close to taking the lead early on when Spencer Tinkler hit the home crossbar with a curling shot.
However, Deeping then fell behind after just eight minutes when Terry Hawkridge's pass picked out Tyler Blake who rifled his finish past Caleb Pipes-Goulsbra in the Deeping goal.
The home side's advantage was doubled 12 minutes later when Aaron Opoku's cross was chested down by Blake for Aaron O'Connor to smash home the second goal.
Deeping came close to cutting the deficit when Josh Moreman's low cross after a driving run just eluded a final touch from the visitors.
Okoku then finished off a good move from a Blake pass as Eastwood added their third goal just past the half-hour mark.
It gave the Red Badgers a comfortable cushion at half-time which was further extended five minutes after the restart.
A corner from Declan Dunn was headed home by Oliver Robinson to leave Deeping staring down the barrel of another heavy loss.
The hosts wrapped up the win with a fifth goal on the hour mark as O'Connor picked up the ball on the edge of the box before driving forward and finishing well.
It was a third successive league loss for Deeping who haven't won in the Premier Division North since the 1-0 victory over Melton Town on December 10.
They face another tough trip on Saturday with a visit to fourth-placed Newark Town.
