Lincolnshire Premier League round-up





Market Deeping were convincing winners of the Lincolnshire Premier League derby on Saturday after beating Bourne by 143 runs.

The hosts compiled a massive 409-6 from their 50 overs at Outgang Road before bowling Bourne out for 266 despite a quick-fire century from Sam Evison who scored 127 in just 44 balls.

Deeping had been put into bat by their derby rivals and got off to a strong start through openers Connor Gillett and Josh Smith.

They put on 62 runs for the first wicket until Smith was caught and bowled by Evison for 26.

Saqlain Arshad then came to the crease to join Gillett and they enjoyed an excellent 137-run stand for the second wicket.

Arshad plundered eight fours and eight sixes in his 91 off just 47 deliveries before he was caught by Jack Berry off the bowling of Dan Freeman.

Evison then had Gillett caught by Berry for 73 while George Woods was run out by the Bourne captain for 21.

Hayatullah Niazi and James Hook continued the momentum with a rapid 119-run partnership for the fifth wicket.

Hook hit four fours and six sixes in his 62 from only 35 balls before he was caught by skipper Berry off Corey Young.

Dan George moved Deeping closer to the 400-run mark with 13 before he was stumped by Carl Wilson off Ruben Baker's bowling.

Dave Sargeant struck a further 12 runs and was unbeaten at the close with Niazi who made 79 not out which featured six fours and four sixes.

Bourne needed a blistering start to chase down a daunting target and, despite losing Berry for nine, Evison picked up the mantle.

He smashed 12 fours and seven sixes in his innings which featured 92 and 72-run stands with Jordan Temple (33) and Jonny Cheer (24).

He was eventually caught by Niazi off the bowling of Kester Sainsbury who claimed three top order wickets before Arshad completed a fine all-round personal performance.

Arshad took four of the remaining Bourne wickets while George, Niazi and Smith all claimed one each as Bourne lost their last six batsmen for 46 runs as Deeping wrapped up a convincing win.

Spalding slipped into the bottom two after being leapfrogged by Grimsby who recorded a 59-run win at Seas End Hall.

Steven Crossley cracked 17 fours and two sixes in his 123 while Harrison Tice added 68 as Grimsby recovered from a slow start.

They were 46-6 at one stage but Crossley and Tice put on 171 runs for the seventh wicket to help Grimsby post 257-8 from their 50 overs.

Nilantha Atapattu and Brandon Andrews both picked up three wickets for Spalding who were set a rain revised target of 233 from 40 overs.

They found themselves 49-5 despite Jon Manton making 25 and struggled to recover.

Harsh Bhandari hit seven boundaries in his 43 while Atapattu added 24 but Spalding were eventually bowled out for 173 as Isaac Bird bagged four wickets for the visitors.

Long Sutton will finish bottom of the table after losing by eight wickets away at league leaders Scunthorpe Town.

Sutton were dismissed for 222 after being put into bat with Calvin Bird and Davico Kruger both scoring 35.

Priyanshu Khanduri took 4-29 from 10 overs for Scunthorpe who passed their target inside 32 overs with the Indian ace leading their chase.

Khanduri cracked 16 fours and five sixes in his 122 not out as Scunthorpe maintained their 23-point advantage at the top with just two matches of the season remaining.

Long Sutton host Nettleham on Saturday with Bourne having a home match with Grimsby at the Abbey Lawn.

Market Deeping entertain Grantham with Spalding travelling to second-placed Lindum.
