Will Cole and Sonny Parsons target success in the Unlimited Banger World of Shale event at King’s Lynn

Will Cole and Sonny Parsons will be going for glory in the biggest race in the world of national banger racing on Saturday.

The Unlimited Banger World of Shale takes place at King’s Lynn (5pm) with drivers travelling from all over the United Kingdom as well as mainland Europe and Ireland to do battle for the title.

Drivers started qualifying for this event back in October and it has been a tough job to get on the grid.

Both Cole and Parsons - who are members of the Aftermath Racing Team - qualified through the World of Shale entertainer points.

Cole, in particular, has done exceptionally well and is having a great season which saw him finish in third place in the points out of more than 100 drivers.

Parsons has also been in the middle of the action whenever he has raced and has been rewarded with a grid position in the sport's biggest race which will go some way to making up for his disappointment last season when a broken arm forced him to miss the last qualifier which meant he did not progress to the big race.

Both Will and Sonny will be making their debuts in the big race and both have shown on many occasions how they can race with the best there is.

They will be confident that they can lift the title on Saturday which will allow them to add two gold stripes to the roof of their car for the next 12 months.

Dan Clarke and Lewis Ivatt will both be hoping to join the duo on the grid through the last chance races.

Drivers will also be in action in the 2L Stock Car Bumper Trophy.

Of the five drivers from across the south Lincolnshire area, only one has previously won the Bumper Trophy and that is Tom Yould who lifted it in 2022.

Simon Venni was second in the race back in 2009 and will be looking to improve on that placing on Saturday.

Yould has not been in action as often as he would have liked with a new house build taking priority.

But, with that now being finished, fans will be delighted to hear that he is looking at making more regular performances in the formula and is always a threat to the chequered flag on his outings.

Other local drivers in action in the 2L Stock Cars include Rowan Venni, Rob Heanes and Will Makins.
