Spalding United beat Lowestoft in the Southern League Premier Division Central

Spalding staged a fantastic fightback to make it back-to-back wins in the Southern League Premier Division Central after a dramatic match with Lowestoft Town on Tuesday night.

The Tulips had found themselves trailing to two goals in three first half minutes from former Peterborough United youngsters Flynn Clarke and Gabe Overton.

But new signing Bartosz Cybulski then struck twice on his debut before Callum Chettle smashed home a free-kick with just four minutes remaining against a 10-man Lowestoft side following the sending off of Travis Cole.

Cybulski was the only change to the Spalding starting line-up following Saturday's home win over Biggleswade after his arrival from King's Lynn.

They were, however, forced into an early change after just 12 minutes when Jonny Ngandu went off injured and was replaced by Sam Warburton.

Spalding had the better of the opening exchanges but the final ball was proving elusive for the home side as a cross from Jordan Nicholson just failed to find Cybulski while Warburton's centre was cut out with the new frontman well placed.

Clarke fizzed a shot just wide for the visitors while Tulips goalkeeper Tony Breeden was forced into a flying save to turn away a decent hit from Sam Johnson.

The visitors then took the lead midway through the first half as Nathan Stainfield's error was pounced on by Clarke and, although Breeden managed a brilliant block to deny the former Norwich City player, Overton pounced to fire home the rebound.

The Trawlermen then doubled their lead shortly after as Clarke got away down the left and slipped his finish past Breeden.

The double strike stung Spalding back into action and Nicholson unleashed a first-time volley that flew into the side-netting.

The Tulips then gave themselves a lifeline four minutes before half-time when Cybulski produced an excellent finish to turn home Lamine Sherif's cross.

Spalding created the first opening shortly after the restart to the second half with Sherif seeing a low shot saved by Luke Holt in the Lowestoft goal after a bright move.

Sherif then sent over an inviting cross for Cybulski but his glancing header was just wide of the far post.

Joe Nyahwema created the next chance as his strong run and cross picked out Nicholson at the back post but he missed the ball with the goal at his mercy.

A fine block from Harry Barbrook then denied Connor Brown after a clever lay-off from Cybulski before Stainfield saw a header cleared off the line after a corner with Sam Cartwright's follow-up being blocked.

Nyahwema then fired a shot straight at Holt after Nicholson's cracking crossfield pass had picked out the overlapping Brown.

Connor Tomlinson and Callum Chettle were then introduced from the bench with the former nearly making an instant impact.

He was first denied by a brave save from Holt before breaking clear only to see his first effort and subsequent rebound superbly saved by the Lowestoft custodian.

Spalding eventually found the equaliser with eight minutes remaining when Cybulski prodded home from close range after Stainfield had first seen a header hit the crossbar with Cartwright's follow up rattling the post.

Tomlinson was then hauled down four minutes later by Hazel who received a second yellow card and Chettle stepped up to smash home the resultant free-kick into the roof of the net to clinch a memorable win despite the injury-time dismissal of Sherif after he collected a second caution.

Tulips: Breeden, Brown, Ngandu (Warburton), Cartwright, Stainfield, Walker, Hilliard (Chettle), Sherif, Cybulski, Nicholson (Tomlinson), Nyahwema (Winters). Sub not used: Bennett.
