Deeping Rangers are beaten by Boston Town in the United Counties League

Deeping Rangers are still searching for their first victory of the United Counties League season after defeat at Boston Town on Monday

The Clarets went down to a 3-0 away reversal and their fourth successive loss of the Premier Division North campaign.

Johnny Alflatt's side had gone into the Bank Holiday derby duel on the back of an FA Vase penalty shoot-out success at the weekend.

However, it was Boston who created the better openings in the first half and they had the ball in the net after 16 minutes but the effort was ruled out for a foul on Deeping goalkeeper Tyler Key.

The Clarets did fall behind 10 minutes later though as Jordan Nuttell headed the home side in front.

Nuttell should have doubled the hosts' advantage just past the half-hour mark but headed a good chance over the crossbar.

Spencer Tinkler went close with a header for Deeping before the visitors conceded a second goal four minutes before the break.

Nuttell was again the marksman as Deeping failed to negate his aerial prowess and he was left unmarked to head home.

A third goal in first half injury time rubbed further salt in the Deeping wounds as a well-worked free-kick routine was finished off by Fraser Bayliss.

Having already conceded 14 goals in their previous three league losses, Rangers rallied in the second half.

Dan Dougill lifted an effort over the home goal before the Deeping midfielder rattled the Boston crossbar with a shot.

The Poachers were then reduced to 10 men when skipper Richard Ford was sent off as Boston's last line of defence to deny a Deeping break.

Sam Mulready then went close for Deeping before the Clarets also had a player dismissed late on when Liam Hook saw red after collecting his second caution of the game.

The defeat leaves Deeping second-from-bottom of the table with only Wisbech - who have just appointed ex-Clarets boss Luke Hipwell as their new manager - below them in the standings.

Rangers face another derby on Saturday when they travel to Sleaford Town before welcoming neighbours Bourne Town to the Haydon Whitham Stadium next Tuesday night (September 3).

The Clarets have lost the services of defender Jordan Oldham who has returned to Holbeach United while Elliot Foster has linked up with manager Hipwell again after joining Wisbech Town.
