Spalding United share the spoils in away draw with Chasetown in the Northern Premier League Midlands Division
An injury-time equaliser earned Spalding United an excellent share of the spoils at high-flying Chasetown on Saturday.
Ryan Flitton headed home the stoppage time leveller to maintain caretaker manager Bruno Porfirio's unbeaten run at the Tulips' helm.
They have now taken five points from Porfirio's three games in charge - two of which have been away at sides in the Northern Premier League Midlands Division play-off places.
Porfirio said: "It was a good game and we always knew that it was going to be difficult travelling to play a side who had started the day in second place.
"However, there is a big belief among the squad that, if we show the right commitment and willingness to step onto the pitch and win the game, then we can give a game to or potentially beat any team in our league.
"We were happy to leave with a point but, after analysing the performance, we could have snatched all three.
"We have always had character to come back from a position of being behind and we stuck to the process which paid off against a good team in difficult conditions that got worse as the game went on."
The Tulips had to solve a late goalkeeping dilemma ahead of Saturday's trip to the fourth-placed Scholars.
With regular number one Michael Duggan and loanee Harry Fisk both sidelined through injury, Spalding signed Richard Stainsby from league rivals Ilkeston Town.
Stainsby - who also featured for Deeping Rangers a few weeks ago - was one of two changes to the starting line-up following last week's home draw with Bedworth as Scott Floyd came in for Gianluca Bucca while new signing Abdul Koroma was named on the substitutes' bench.
Stainsby was called into action in the opening period with an athletic stop to thwart Dilano Reid before safely holding onto a header from Joey Butlin as the first half finished goalless.
Spalding then hit the front just past the hour mark as a rapid break saw the ball pulled back to Floyd who fired home the opening goal.
However, the lead lasted just 12 minutes before Chasetown got back on level terms as Spalding were penalised for a high boot in the area and Jack Langston netted from the resultant spot kick.
The hosts then hit the front three minutes later as Stainsby saved a first effort but Nehemia Zazi reacted first to net the rebound.
Spalding responded well in search of an equaliser and got their reward in injury-time as substitute Flitton powered home a header to earn a tidy away point.
Porfirio added: "The message has been passed on to the players that everyone is important and has a key part to play.
"We made a tweak to the starting eleven on Saturday, according to the strategy for the game, and Scott has started and scored a goal while Ryan was key when he came on.
"We truly believe in every player that we have got and they also understand that their contribution on a Saturday might be in the starting eleven or coming off the bench to give us something more or different."
The draw means the Tulips are unbeaten in their last four league games and leaves Spalding in ninth place ahead of Saturday's home match with Yaxley at the Sir Halley Stewart ground.
