Holbeach United edge out Boston Town in UCL Premier Division derby
Holbeach United's derby win was inspired by Boston Town boss Gary Edgley.
He made comments about the Tigers' opening victory of the season when they came from 2-0 down to beat the Poachers 3-2.
Jonny Lockie - who was also on target in August - got the only goal at foggy Carter's Park on Wednesday night.
Holbeach manager Danny Hussey said: "Boston were so confident that they were going to win.
"There was nothing I needed to do after everything being said on social media and between the lads.
"We simply went about our business in the right way and concentrated on the game. It was job done.
"I've got to thank Gary who did the team talk for me with his interview on YouTube. Our players were not happy about that clip.
"We knew how they were going to play and we were by far the better side.
"We should have won more comfortably as the keeper pulled off some good saves."
Lockie struck after 15 minutes at the second attempt from Michael Frew's assist.
However, Frew was sent off in the closing stages for a second bookable offence - even though the first yellow card should have been shown to team-mate Jon Fairweather.
Former Tigers midfielder Ollie Pinner was also dismissed in stoppage time for a second foul.
He had been cautioned just four minutes after coming on as a second-half substitute.
Frew, Lockie, Spencer Tinkler and Adam Jackson had chances to extend the lead.
The Tigers should have been awarded a penalty when Corey Cunliffe clearly handled Frew's right-wing cross.
Boston's best opportunity came at the end of the first half when Fraser Bayliss nodded over from close range.
Cunliffe's late header was held by Ricky Drury who kept another clean sheet as the Tigers took their unbeaten run to 14 league games.
They moved level on points with Shepshed Dynamo but couldn't find a second goal to put them on top of the table.
Boston's 10-game unbeaten run was ended and they face Holbeach again in the Lincolnshire FA Senior Trophy semi-final on February 11.
