GOLF: Good afternoon earns title for Louie
Twelve-year-old Louie Gooderson won the Rabbits Open Day 31-hole competition at Spalding.
He scored 75 points - six ahead of Lee Nicholson.
In the morning round, Nicholson got 44 points and Gooderson managed 43.
Over 13 holes in the afternoon, Gooderson added 32 while the round was won by Mick Wallis (28).
A total of 33 teams of four ladies from many clubs played in the Summer AM-AM.
The competition was a Stableford - 90 per cent handicap up to a maximum 30 with three to score on the first nine and two on the second.
The winners on countback were Susan Brown, Helen Bradshaw, Susan Smith and Margaret Hope from Canwick Park with 99 points.
Runners-up were Gill Dewhurst (Spalding), Pat Richardson, Johanne Pywell and Sam Gooderson (Searles).
Third place went to Ingrid King (Spalding), Carol Houldershaw and Nancy Barnard (Woodhall Spa) and Penny Russell (Boston West) with 98 points.
Fourth on countback were Yvonne Thompson, Julie Simpson, Henny Woodland and Joy Hall (Kibworth) with 97 points.
Fifth were Olive Gooderson and Mags Filby (Spalding), Maria Taylor-Vassell (Tydd St Giles) and Maggie Clarkson (King’s Lynn).
The twos competition was shared by Helen Bradshaw (Canwick), Lynda Double (Spalding) and Penny Russell (Boston West) on the ninth hole.
The third team lost 5-1 at Toft but captain Greg Wright and Pete Williams managed a 4&3 win.
Home advantage and a man short secured a one-point win for Spalding’s seniors against Lincoln Torksey.

Tydd St Giles seniors raised £600 for Cancer Research UK at the annual Bob Johns Classic.
More than 80 golfers from around the region took part in the competition in memory of a member who passed away eight years ago.
The competition has been run by his family to benefit their charity.
Senior organiser Roy Pesterfield thanked all for taking part on a very successful day.
