Spalding United host Lowestoft Town in the Southern League Premier Division Central
Manager Jimmy Dean is calling for one last push from his Spalding United side as they target back-to-back wins for the first time this season at the end of a hectic spell of matches.
The Tulips host Lowestoft Town tonight (Tuesday) in the Southern League Premier Division Central clash at the Sir Halley Stewart ground.
Spalding have had successive midweek matches since the start of Dean's tenure with two FA Cup replays sandwiching a league match at Harborough.
But they will be buoyed by Saturday's home success over Biggleswade Town following last Tuesday's FA Cup shoot-out defeat at Alfreton ahead of a mini break from league action with no scheduled match this coming weekend.
Dean said: "The lads keep giving us everything and, although the defeat at Alfreton in the FA Cup was tough to take, it isn't the end of the world if we use the positives from it which we did on Saturday.
"We need another big push on Tuesday and then assimilate on Thursday, Saturday, Tuesday and Thursday before we play again.
"I hadn't had two training sessions back-to-back yet and two of those have been after extra-time in replays so all you are doing is managing loads.
"We probably did a little bit too much with them last Thursday but we're trying to get ideas into them and get across our print of what we're trying to do.
"It has been difficult with the work-load but credit to the players because they are giving us absolutely everything."
Visiting Lowestoft are just one place outside of the relegation zone and are only three points clear of the Tulips.
They were beaten 4-1 at Kettering Town on Saturday and have former Peterborough United and Norwich City youngster Flynn Clarke in their playing ranks.
Dean added: "They've got some really good players so it will be a challenge but we need to start looking up.
"We've got to get our recovery right and hopefully get another positive result.
"We can look at the doom and gloom having lost six matches in the league but, in the last seven games, we've won two, drawn three and lost two.
"We've drawn two games against a side that is in the play-offs in the league above which isn't too shabby.
"Two of the league defeats have come into the second halves of games against sides in the top half of the table so we have to look at these things.
"I'm not always trying to put a positive spin on things because they hurt me but we have to try and lose the things that weren't great in those games and try to use the stuff which was good."
Spalding have got a home draw in the third qualifying round of the FA Trophy against league rivals Alvechurch.
The match will be Spalding's next competitive clash after the Lowestoft match with the game taking place on Saturday, October 5.
