Ollie Wilson wins the Junior Sand Racing Championship at Mablethorpe

After winning the DTRA Flat Track Intermediate Championship in 2023, Kirton youngster Ollie Wilson has continued his run of success during the winter months.

The 12-year-old has been contesting the nine-round Junior Sand Racing Championship at Mablethorpe where he was crowned champion after securing eight victories.

Riding the KTM85cc machine, the Banovallum School pupil was runner-up last season and was keen to go one better this time around.

He did this in style by taking the win in all but one race when his bike suffered a technical problem and he was forced to retire.

Not content to sit back and watch the rest of the meeting, he borrowed a fellow competitor's bike and won the last three races that day to pick up a few extra points.

He went on to win the final round which was more than enough for him to be crowned junior sand racing champion.

Ollie is now preparing for his next challenge and will be stepping up to the British Junior Supermoto Championship for the 2024 season.

It runs over eight rounds on tracks throughout the country and he will be using his KTM 85cc bike with which he won both the DTR Flat track and the Mablethorpe Sand Racing championships.

Ollie is the eldest son of former British Superbike and Supersport rider Ben Wilson.

Ben is now team manager for the Gearlink British Supersport team which runs with the British Superbike Championship and is also a director at Wilsons Motorcycles in Kirton.
